alrighty.i commend you first on the fact that you did it in paper, which is a hard feat to do.so for that,i applaud you.secondly,i was actually surprised,my computer loads a little slower than others. your line of symmetry is completely on the mark and i can ACTUALLY SEE THE CAR. in others i have had to look for it,and trust me judges do NOT want to look for it. lastly the design around the car...simply brilliant ,it looks,to me anyways, like gears from the car, like mayhaps a de-constructed engine or something of the like. in conclusion ,i really don't see anything you should change, but then again some one,or you even, may beg to differ. trust me on this,
The first thing I notice when I look at this artwork is the elaborate, superbly detailed background. However, the purpose of this piece was to show off the Dodge Dart, right? I almost didn't notice the car silhouette in the middle of all the fancy stuff surrounding it.
Details in the piece are enticing and lead viewers towards pondering of the objects - the symmetry, hands, staves, mechanical pieces, those circle things - everything except the void in the center, which should be the main focal point of the work. Also the paper wrought symbols are so cryptic that the car-shaped void almost seems out of place.
While this wonderfully cut paper art piece is undoubtedly artistic and masterfully done, the piece lacks the impact that it should have due to the overly detailed background in stark contrast with the austere silhouette of the car in the foreground.
I fully agree with the opening critics. Nice artwork and amazing skill. But does this in anyway show of the elements of the new Dodge Dart or the idea of the Dodge art. The Silhouettes is not based on any of the assets provided. The surrounding art has no reference to the car or any automobile. I like this piece but would much rather see people who tried implemeting the rules be narrowed down for the semis. Judges always complete confuse me on deviantart competitions.
keeping my fingers crossed for you though What kind of scissors do you use for your work? Could you upload a piccie and show us what kind of tools you use to do this kind of stuff? I'd love to try my hand at this. Don't think my hands are steady enough for it though
